Having left her home, the island her grandfather left to her in his will, we meet Charlotte in the aftermath of a horrific end to a ten year relationship that has been a lie. Charlotte must navigate a new landscape,  relationships with new people, and recover, ultimately leading to a choice that will either take her forward in this new place, or back to the island and the people that matter the most to her; the ones that saved her life.

It is the late 1800s in Central Otago, New Zealand. There is a gold rush on and thousands of people have gathered in search of gold either from the land or from those that work it.
On Thin Ice introduces us to seventeen-year-old Elsie Hayes, the daughter of a prosperous merchant, on the morning she asks her father permission to marry. Courting disaster, both social and literal, she has fallen for a young gold miner. William is a charismatic young man with ambition above his station.
Without the support of her father, Elsie considers making a choice with unknown consequences. What unfolds is beyond anything either of them expected and will change their fates forever.

Novel

WORK IN PROGRESS:
Cora Parker is in crisis. Battling anxiety, depression, and the all-consuming demands of teaching, she finds herself on the brink of life-changing decisions that must be made for the sake of her health. During time out travelling the country, Cora is led, it seems by fate, to a beautiful and isolated island in the Marlborough Sounds.  Here she meets an elderly gentleman, Frank, and his surly nephew Atlas. But Atlas is suffering too. The effects of work stress, compounded by alcohol and circumstance have brought him home to recover under his uncle's guidance. Cora and Atlas, at first at odds, find ways to help each other through their recovery until an accident throws more chaos into their lives.
